This is the first time I have bought a cooling mat. My dog is quite old and somewhat disabled, so this is a bit slippery for him to walk on and off without losing his balance. I have put it on top of his bed that also has a cushion inside, so that does add a bit to the height. He seems to be comfortable sleeping on it.
"SORRY FOR THE CAPS! I'M LEGALLY BLIND" INITIALLY I WANTED TO TRY IT OUT FOR THE OUTSIDE CATS SO I PURCHASED IT WITH THAT INTENTION. BUT LOOKING AT OTHER OPTIONS I FOUND AN ELEVATED MESH BED THAT CAN FIT A LOT MORE CATS ON THE BED COMFORTABLY THAN THIS ONE PAD (WE TAKE CARE OF A LOT OF THE STRAYS AND FERAL CATS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD). SO I TRIED THIS WITH MY INDOOR CAT AND SHE LOVES IT! SHE LAYS ON OTHER PARTS OF MY BED WHEN SHE IS NOT HOT BUT WHEN SHE GETS WARMER SHE JUST GOES DIRECTLY TO THE PAD AND LAYS DOWN. WHEN I GOT THIS YESTERDAY I LET IT COOL OFF (I LIVE IN ARIZONA) AFTER I GOT IT OUT OF THE PACKAGING! WHEN I LAID IT ON THE BED SHE SMELLED IT AND WALKED OVER IT AND SHE IMMEDIATELY FELT THE COOL ON HER PAWS AND SAT DOWN ON IT. THEN SHE LAID ON IT. SHE LOVES IT!!
I love that the mat is just the right size for my 8.5 lb dog, and it does keep him cool. I tested myself with the weight of my foot while I was sitting, and it does feel nice and cool. Perfect on an 80°+ day!
Since my small dog likes to sprawl out, I opted for the largest sized mat. I set it up on the couch with a fan pointed at him, and he seems very content. The mat is very cool to the touch, easy to clean and a nice color. My dog is all fur and he is very hot since it is almost 90F (32C) here. This mat will help him feel cool while sitting on the couch and keep him content. I purchased another to keep downstairs or bring in the car on a hot night
Really nice mat! There is a nice bit of cushion to it, and It really does work- you can feel the pleasant cooling engagement when pressure is applied. It appears to be very well made with quality materials. My 5 month old Australian Shepherd decided as he was lying on it that it might be fun to chew. I caught him before he could perforate the material, and found everything was intact—it looked like he hadn’t mouthed it all. It is not a chew toy, though, so until he gets older, he’ll only be using it with supervision. It looks like this mat will last for years and years. I love the relief it will give him in hot weather!
